About Annie Artwork Sale Shows Studio 2507

Thank you for your interest in my artwork. I consider myself a painter, but work in 3 different mediums: Painting (primarily oil and acrylic paintings), monotype prints, and ceramic tiles. Essentially my work is the same theme, but expressed differently due to the difference in mediums. My subject manner is the human figure, and abstract French Landscapes. I have been drawing the figure since high school, and I work directly from a live model.

My landscapes come from a monthly trip to the Sancerre region of France, where I have been painting for 13 years. I sit out in a field and paint each evening for the month of September. The paintings and ideas I produce in France become inspiration for a body of work I then develop in my studio during the rainy Portland winters. I have an affinity for minimal landscapes, which I attribute to growing up in the Midwest, staring out at farmland with a few lines and few trees. Working in the Sancerre region of France, I feel that my work has evolved into what I consider an abstract sense of time and place, and with it I aim to translate the sense of identity I feel with these landscapes that are both from my childhood and myself today.

All of my work is original. I have no reproductions. Below is a description of each medium.

Painting

I work both on paper, and on canvas. I work quickly, according to a series of colors or ideas. I often paint with rollers and with my hands. I am inspired by color and by line or shape.

Monotype Prints

I have a large press in my studio, but I work exclusively with the monotype process, which produces only one original print. I paint my picture on a piece of plastic plexiglass and then transfer that image on paper through my press.

Ceramic Tile

I have been making tiles since 1984. I make and paint my own tiles. Again, I am interested in a unique presentation of my vision of the human figure and landscape. All of the tiles are framed and designed for a gallery presentation.
